Picture a scene where love, magic, and nature intertwine, creating a setting so unique and personal that it feels like stepping into a fairy tale. This is the essence of an engagement shoot inspired by your Zodiac sign, a touch of witchy magic, and the intimate setting that was picked perfectly for you.
When you are searching for inspiration for your engagement session, there are endless ideas out there.I love the love that shows through in all engagement photos, but here’s some things that help my amazing clients stand out every time.
First, Align With Your Sign
As a zodiac portrait photographer, I focus on what your sign is and how we can bring the magic of the stars to your photos. There is no idea too crazy for our photoshoots. If you want something witchy, let’s grab a bottle of red head down to the river and get pouring!
When you’re compiling ideas and inspiration for your shoot, find colors, styles and designs that light you up, make you feel inspired and connected.
Taking inspiration from a sign you see or an outfit someone wore out this weekend, even an old photo in your family album can spark some great unique ideas that are personal to you.
Astrology has a beautiful way of weaving its celestial threads into our lives, offering insights into our personalities and relationships. The decision to infuse your engagement shoot with each astrological element embraces a natural extension of your bond.
Next, Secure Your Witchy Vision
Once you’re inspired and we’ve discussed your vision, we want to make sure that we do everything in our power to bring it to life. We’ll find the perfect location, time of day, and get any props needed for styling. And of course, send me those outfit ideas, I can’t wait to see.
For example: The vision for this shoot was clear from the start: to blend the mystical allure of witchcraft with the serene beauty of a river. The river, a symbol of the flow of emotions and purification, was the perfect setting. It offered a natural backdrop that was both enchanting and symbolic. Red wine, rich and deep in color, was chosen to represent passion and love. In witchcraft, wine also embodies the element of water, enhancing the mystical theme. The idea was to create a scene where the couple could connect deeply, not just with each other, but with the elements around them.
Remember: When You Feel Good, You Look Your Best
Sometimes planning can be a little overwhelming, so take your time and don’t make decisions out of obligation (or trying to fit your vision into a box). You can be a witchy bride without wearing black, you can be funky and retro in brand name items, or a floral goddess in our photo studio. Whatever feels good to you is always the right move.
Every detail of the wardrobe and props was carefully selected to enhance the witchy aesthetic in this river shoot. The couple donned gothic and bohemian styles, with flowing dresses and earthy tones that perfectly complemented the natural setting. We chose a time when the fading light cast a magical glow over the river, enhancing the mystical ambiance. The scene was set with candles, lanterns, and rustic elements that blended seamlessly with the environment.
Finally, Reflections and Self-Care on Shoot Day
The biggest take away from this checklist-although it’s the last thing you’ll do before our shoot-is the most important to take care of yourself on shoot day. Take a slow morning bubble bath, a long walk, read a book and unwind. Do whatever you need to relax and rest your soul so that when we are shooting, you feel your best, you feel rested, and I’ll do the rest.
Reflecting on this shoot, the couple expressed how much it meant to them. It wasn’t just about capturing beautiful photos; it was about creating a memory that felt true to who they are. The alignment with their signs and the magical setting made it a deeply personal and meaningful experience. They spoke of how the shoot symbolized their journey together, with the river representing the flow of their emotions and the wine their shared passions. It was a celebration of their love and the unique elements that brought them together.
If you’re considering an engagement shoot, think about what makes your relationship unique. Infuse your shoot with elements that reflect your love story and personal interests. The result will be a collection of memories that are as special and unique as your love.
